Understanding Airbnb's Commission Rates: What Hosts Need to Know

The host fee is a percentage of the booking, taken from your payout. On the host-only structure guests do not pay an Airbnb service fee, so the full platform cut sits on the host side.

Older listings sometimes used a split: a smaller host fee plus a guest fee at checkout. Many markets now hide that guest fee by moving the cost into the host commission instead.

A 15% fee on a 1,000 booking is 150 you never see. To net 1,000 you must advertise a higher rate, which can reduce clicks if competitors have not repriced yet.

Region, listing type, and cancellation policy can change the exact percentage. Always read the fee line in your Airbnb host dashboard for that listing.
