Host Follow System: Followers & Special Offers
Build a direct audience on TrueBookings, notify followers when you add seasonal pricing, and fill quiet weeks without paying OTA marketing fees.
What the follow system is
TrueBookings lets guests follow hosts they like. When someone follows you, they stay connected to your direct booking homepage โ not through Airbnb messages or social algorithms. You can then reach those followers by email when you create a meaningful special offer on specific dates.
It is a simple one-way follow: guests opt in on your listing homepage, you see how many followers you have, and you decide when to notify them from your admin Pricing tab. Followers only receive emails when you actively send a special offer for a saved date range.
Guest follows
A logged-in guest taps Follow on your host homepage.
You set seasonal pricing
Add a date range and nightly rate under Pricing in admin.
Followers get notified
Click Notify followers on that range to send the offer email.
Where guests follow you
The Follow button appears on your public host homepage โ the same page guests use to browse photos, check availability, and book directly. It sits near your host name and "Host since" line, alongside your follower count.
- Who can follow: logged-in TrueBookings users who are not you. Guests must have an account to follow.
- What they see after following: the button switches to a Following state so they know they are subscribed.
- Follower count: displayed on your homepage as "Host since โฆ ยท N followers", which builds social proof for new visitors.
- Hidden on your own page: when you are logged in and viewing your own homepage, the Follow button is hidden so you never follow yourself.
Share your direct homepage link everywhere you already promote your property โ Instagram bio, email signatures, post-stay messages, and printed welcome materials โ and ask happy guests to follow for early access to offers.
The special offer email followers receive
When you notify followers, each person receives a branded email featuring your property hero image, the applicable offer dates, a nightly rate, and a direct link back to your listing. The message also states that it was sent because the recipient follows you on TrueBookings.
Each email is tailored to the follower's account. You enter your seasonal rate in your property currency in admin, but what each follower sees is calculated for them individually โ the same way as on your booking page:
- Currency: converted to the follower's currency based on the country saved on their TrueBookings profile (for example EUR for a guest in Portugal, SEK for Sweden, GBP for the UK).
- All-in nightly rate: includes accommodation, applicable VAT on the stay, the TrueBookings service fee, and VAT on that fee where it applies โ so the figure matches what they would see when booking those dates.
- Lower than your base rate: when the seasonal offer is below your normal base nightly rate, the email can show both โ your usual rate crossed out alongside the special offer.
- Higher than your base rate: if you notify at a rate above your base price, TrueBookings asks you to confirm before sending, and the email shows only the offer rate without a comparison to your normal price.
The screenshot below is a representative example. The exact currency symbol and amount will differ per recipient.
Where hosts use it: Pricing tab
Special offer notifications are tied to seasonal date ranges in your admin Pricing tab. This is the same place you manage base rates, discounts, tax, and calendar-based seasonal pricing.
- Open your admin dashboard and go to the Pricing section.
- Use the seasonal calendar to select a start and end date, then enter a nightly rate for that range.
- Save the range. It appears under Saved date ranges with the formatted dates and rate.
- Click Notify followers on that row to email everyone who follows you about those dates and that rate.
- After a range has been notified once, the button becomes Notified for those dates so you do not send the same offer twice.
- You cannot notify for date ranges that have already passed.
Plan ahead by saving several seasonal ranges, then notify when you want to promote a gap โ for example a quiet week in March or a last-minute opening in June.
How to get more followers
Followers do not appear overnight. Treat follows like a lightweight mailing list you earn through trust and repeat interest.
- After a great stay: mention that guests can follow your TrueBookings page for future offers if they plan to return or refer friends.
- On social media: link to your direct homepage, not only OTA listings, and explain that followers get first notice of special rates.
- Repeat guests and locals: people who already know your property are the most likely to follow and book again.
- Search and discovery: a complete listing with strong photos and clear pricing makes visitors more likely to follow before they leave.
- Follower count on your page: as your count grows, new visitors see that others already trust you โ a small signal that following is worthwhile.
Best ways to use special offers
Followers gave you permission to hear from you. Use that carefully and offers convert much better than generic blasts.
- Fill specific gaps: notify for exact open weeks you want to fill, not your entire calendar.
- Make the rate compelling: seasonal pricing should feel like a real reason to book now โ shoulder season, midweek gaps, or extended-stay windows.
- One clear offer per range: each saved range should represent one coherent deal (dates + rate). Notify once per range when you are ready.
- Match the homepage: the rate in admin is what guests see when they land from the email, so keep listing photos and availability up to date.
- Do not over-send: followers stay subscribed when emails feel valuable. Save notifications for dates you genuinely want to promote.
- Combine with direct booking: followers book on your homepage with no OTA commission on the host side โ the offer email is a direct path to revenue you keep.
Pro tip
Start building followers before you need them. Add a saved seasonal range for a future quiet period, grow your follower list over a few months, then notify when that window is approaching. Hosts who combine follows with strong seasonal pricing often see the best response on gaps that OTAs would otherwise discount heavily.
What followers do not receive
Following a host is not a general newsletter subscription. Followers are not emailed when you change your base rate, update photos, or add calendar blocks. They only receive the special offer email when you click Notify followers on a saved seasonal range. If you have no followers yet, you can still save ranges and the system will record the notification โ you simply have nobody to email until your audience grows.
Frequently asked questions
Do guests need an account to follow a host?
Yes. Following requires a logged-in TrueBookings account so notifications can be sent to the correct email address and so each person only follows once.
Can I notify followers for the same dates twice?
No. Each saved date range can only be notified once. After you send, the button shows Notified for that range. Create a new saved range if you want to promote different dates.
Can I notify multiple ranges in one day?
Yes. You can notify followers for different saved date ranges whenever you are ready, as long as each range has not already been notified and the dates have not passed.
Do all followers see the same price in the email?
No. You set one seasonal rate in your property currency, but each follower sees an all-in nightly price in their own currency based on their profile country. VAT, service fee, and fee VAT are included the same way as on your booking page, so the amount matches what that guest would pay for those dates.
Where do I set the offer rate shown in the email?
The starting point is the nightly rate on the seasonal range you save in the Pricing tab before clicking Notify followers. TrueBookings then converts and calculates the final figure each follower sees in their currency, with taxes and fees included.
Why is there no Follow button when I view my own homepage?
You cannot follow yourself. The button is hidden when you are logged in as the host viewing your own listing page.
